In recent years, it is universally witnessed that Wireless Sensor Network techniques have become increasingly mature. The WSN, which based on IEEE802.15.4 was initially aimed at low-rate, low-cost, and low-power applications, with the increase in demand for richer monitoring data types, wireless multimedia sensor networks, which nodes were equipped with microphones and camera, become the focus of study and play an important role in Border Control, Disaster Management, Emergency Response, Communications, etc. This paper conduct a study on multi-hop voice transmission technology, combine the low-cost and low-power of IEEE 802.15.4, with the self-organization, anti-destruction and multi-hop of Ad-hoc network, designed a multi-hop voice transmission system, which transfer the voice data by multi hop, the node realized sampling, encoding, transmission, decoding and playback of audio signal. To solve the problem that during the transmission of a large amount of voice data over low-rate wireless sensor networks, the wireless node energy, network capacity and voice quality generate conflicts, this paper put forward a load and energy balance network routing algorithm. Voice Multi-hop Transmission Protocol with voice QoS was also devised and realized include address allocation algorithm, the shortest routing algorithm, network maintenance methods, routing table structure, data packet format design, unicast and broadcast implementation, etc.The designed protocol in this paper was simulated by NS3 to get the performance under massive nodes. The result manifests that it can meet the needs of multi-hop voice transmission. The System Testing shows that the single-hop line-of-sight transmission can reach as far as 200 meters, and the transmission test of 5 nodes 4 hop can limit the packet loss rate only at about 5%, achieving excellent voice effects. The design and implement of this low-cost and low-power multi-hop wireless voice transmission system has a tremendous potential to be utilized and exerts significant influences in the field of Military Communications, Disaster Relief, Mine Communications, Long Distance Communications, Monitoring, Basic Communication area, etc.
