Ultra-wideband wireless communication technology has the characteristics of fast transfer rate, high security, and multi-path resolution ability, which can replace the Bluetooth technology in short-range communication with 10 m and has be widely applied on the remote communication, such as WPAN, indoor wireless sensor networks,outdoor peer networks and so on. As receiving and transmitting device of communication system, performance of the UWB antenna directly impacts on the performance of the entire UWB system. The pattern reconstruction technique is used to increase the range of the antenna radiation and dynamic enhance spatial coverage,which also can adjust the shape of the antenna radiation to increase the gain and increase the ability of signal reception。It has a great research value in enhancing the performance of ultra-wideband antenna。This paper mainly focuses on the research and analysis of ultra-wideband pattern reconfigurable antenna. Combination horizontal omnidirectional radiation with vertical directional radiation,the ultra-wideband antenna achieve hemisphere space coverage, which has considerable practical significance. At first,we introduce the research background and significance, and summarize the research status of patternreconfigurable antenna. Furthermore, we research and design a miniaturized ultra-wideband 1 bit phase shifter, including analysis and design the ultra-wideband 180° phase shift RF circuit and DC bias circuit. On this basic, we design a UWB in/out-phase output switchable ultra-wideband RF network, which shows that the amplitude of the deviation between two output ports is less than 1d B(except near resonance frequency 9.8 GHz), and the phase deviations less than 15°(output in-phase) and 17°(output out-phase) within the band of 3.1~ 10.6 GHz. At last, we design a UWB dielectric resonator antenna. By using the UWB in/out-phase output switchable ultra-wideband RF network as a feed network of the antenna, we get a UWB pattern reconfigurable dielectric resonator antenna, which has vertical directional and horizontal radiation pattern. Through two kinds of pattern dynamic combination, it has achieved the hemisphere space coverage.
