Data center, the important informationization carrier for Chinese government and enterprises, is the platform supporting the data storage and operating the information system, and the key resource promoting the development of the next generation of information technology industry. With the significant tendency that the information technology is becoming network-centric, platform-like and service-oriented, there is an increasingly urgent demand for large scale and high performance data center. However, the construction mode of IT hardware facilities of data center is facing five severe challenges as follows:1, The increasingly complexity of product technology;2, The long cycle of construction;3, The increasing energy consumption;4, The cooperation and compatibility from different manufacturers; and5, The high cost of operations and maintenance.To deal with the above challenges and problems, we propose a creative idea to design and establish an integrated IT hardware facilities date center, by the inspiration of the blade servers, modular core switches, and modular firewall etc. Generally speaking, it is to design a product as the integration of Internet system, host system, storage system, and security system, which is located in an integrated rack, for centralization of system management, power supply, and heat removal.The central goal of integrated design concept is to solve traditional challenges and problems met by IT hardware facilities data center.1, The technology of products of data center is becoming more and more complex, while the integrated design concept helps to reduce the complexity because it changes the structures of systems like Internet system, host computer system, storage system and security system to blade structure and realizes the backplane switch of data.2, Generally, the cycle of constructing a traditional data center is long. However, the integrated design concept that based on a single brand and a single vendor could help to save time of communicating and coordinating and to reduce the cycle of construction.3, The consuming energy of traditional data center is growing year by year, while the integrated design concept helps to reduce the PUE to 1.5 and less. It brings the idea of designing the traditional cabinet but re-designs it to realize a more efficient electric supplementation and an optimized model of ventilation and heat dissipation.4, Traditional data center has various compatibility problems due to brand variations. The integrated design concept adopts one brand, so it not only reduces such problems but also maximizes the utilization of resource.5, The maintenance costs of traditional data center is remaining high, but the integrated design concept reduces the construction complexity and operating costs significantly.As a matter of fact, the integrated IT hardware facilities for data center introduced in this paper is an all-in-one equipment on market, which has been realized and applied for the regional medical information platform of Shunde District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. After enforcement of the program, the all-in-one equipment, a new model of product, has received high recognition and recommendation; and it explores a new way for the design of the next generation integrated IT hardware facilities for data centers. |
