With the rapid development of IT technology and increasing industrialization requirement for modern information technology, currently, most of the industrial users require for comprehensive seamless information integration from on-site control layer to management layer. In order to achieve a comprehensive seamless information integration, industrial control system require for a low-cost, high-speed, high accuracy and practical network that require the control system based on open and transparent communication protocol. Current industrial control system has lots of problem including incompatibility of fieldbus and gap between different network protocols. The traditional industrial network has been unable to meet user’s demands, people begin to pay more attention on TCP/IP protocol that have excellent advantage for open protocol in Ethernet application. TCP/IP help to solve problem in current industrial control area. In this way, Ethernet has more and more application in industrial control area and become a new industrial Ethernet control technology.In recent years, intelligence, networking and information become main developing direction of industrial automation control system. Before industrial Ethernet technology, serial communication is the main function in industrial network as RS232 or RS485. With rapid development of bus technology, DeviceNet and Profibus technology becomes more and more popular. After that, network technology develops fast and Ethernet industrial become one of the most important industrial communication systems. As standard network protocol, the core of TCP/IP has great contribution to development of Modbus/TCP and Ethernet/IP technology. With good compatibility and interoperability of Ethernet/IP, it has been applied in equipment control layer more frequently. Industrial network based on Ethernet/IP has become main direction of each industrial control area. In this way, it requires us to develop new control system based on Ethernet protocol.In the field of optical fiber production control, due to the cost saving need from enterprise, company need to add new gas reclaim system based on original control system. The control system and I/O system has been obsolete for original system and can not get support from vendor any more. We need to develop new industrial control system to support further upgrade and development in the future. As main direction of industrial network, Ethernet/IP becomes baseline in the development and implementation of new control system.In this paper, based on existing obsoleted control system, combined with analysis of Ethernet/IP industrial network technology, redesign and implement new gas reclaim control system on new optical fiber production line. With study of Ethernet/IP protocol, we realized Ethernet/IP I/O system development and optical fiber production control system upgrade in equipment layer and upgrade process monitoring layer platform with new developing software. This new design will also be helpful to production line system upgrade in the future.
