The Research Of CNN’s Reports Of Xinjiang At The Year Of 2014

Under the background of globalization,the communication of China and the western world is becoming more and more frequent.China and the United States as the world’s superpower,The historical relationship between the two is complex, and China has become the focus of many western media as its rise on the world stage.Because China advocates the diversities of world development, to a certain extent, threatening the United States for world dominance, for the fear of China’s rise, the United States quite concerned about the China dynamic at home and abroad, especially evident in emergencies, and as the world’s mainstream media,CNN plays an important part in guiding the public opinion, whether it reports the objective or not in the very great degree affects the international image of China.In this paper, A summary of the CNN’s reports about the periodic status of Xinjiang has been made since its establisement,and the paper analyzes the whole year report of 2014 on the official website of CNN involved in Xinjiang,which based on the tendency of the issue,reported length, high frequency words, title, news sources, in order to present a comprehensive image of xinjiang for eveybody.In CNN’s agenda setting, the frequency of Xinjiang problem is higher, the Chinese government is vigorously constructing "silk road" economic belt, xinjiang as the hub of the silk road, its stability, development and prosperity become a close concern of our government and party, due to its special geographical location and multi-ethnic cultural tradition, some problems has become a hot topic of CNN’s reports in the process of development in the new period,in these stories, we can see the obvious negative tendencies of CNN.Political and ethnic relations problems accounted for the highest percentage of CNN’s reports,which are not objective and fair in general,especially on violent terrorist incidents,ethnic relations issues and so on.In this paper, through the research of the whole year’s reports on the official website of CNN involved in Xinjiang in 2014,the paper analysis the reason of the image of Xinjiang presented by CNN,so as to provide some countermeasures for Xinjiang’s external communication.
