With the development of modern society and the improvement of people’s living standard, cellular mobile communication has penetrated into all aspects of people’s life. Electromagnetic wave, as the carrier of information or mobile communication signal, makes the radio waves propagation and electromagnetic radiation closely related to people’s daily life naturally. Meanwhile, with people’s increasing demand of mobile communication, mobile communication base station appear in the nook and cranny of the city in a growing speed. In accordance with the relevant state documents stated, the construction of mobile communication base station must evaluate the effect on the surrounding environment, to avoid out of limits. At the same time, with the frequent construction of mobile communication base station and the enhancement of urban building density, the signal that the mobile phone received is related to the wall reflection and wedge diffraction of buildings. Ray tracing method, as a kind of powerful method for prediction of wave propagation, plays a very important role in the research of typical mobile communication base station electromagnetic radiation and the influence of building to radio waves propagation. In this article, we rely on ray tracing method, analyzed the rule of radio wave propagation of base station antenna, by the establishment of the mobile communication environment model.In this article, the basis of mobile communication and base station is introduced firstly. At the same time, we discussed three kind of common form of radio waves propagation--direct wave, reflected wave and the diffracted wave, and we deduced transformation formula of field intensity. We solved the problem of polarization forms of waves in the solution of field by the establishment of three sets of coordinates. We build flow charts to classify the process of effective path finding of wave propagation. We summarized the effective path of direct wave, first order of reflected wave and diffracted wave, second order of reflected wave and diffracted wave and so on. And we got the coordinate of reflection points and diffraction points.For the research of electromagnetic environmental impact in typical mobile communication base station,the main work of this paper can be summarized as:(1)Classification of typical mobile communication environment:free space,empty suburban and urban intensive buildings environment;(2)Measurment of radiation data of empty suburban and comparison with theoretical derivation;(3)Component of signal field of one point in urban intensive buildings environment, analysis of building effect on signal field and so on.
