As we all know, with the increasing development of enterprise information technology, management information system represented by Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP) plays an important role in the production and business activities in the enterprise. But with the diversity of customer demands and increasingly fierce market competition, more and more discrete manufacturing industries are under growing pressure. Business model that procurement of raw materials, and production and processing of components and assembly, and selling of products are all based on customer orders is adopted by the most enterprises. Based on the order-driven production methods, the issues related to how to ensure the timely delivery of orders and the quality of products have become key issues in business management. Since the existing ERP system is based on the upper management and lack of process monitoring and tracking capabilities for workshop production, the status of production process can not be understood by the management and decision-making people. Thus, conditions like poor contract performance, and lower delivery rates and customer satisfaction rates appeared. Due to the fact that workshop production management is the key to solve the above-mentioned problems, management of workshop production needs to be strengthened, and operation process needs to be optimized and the control of workshop production needs to be improved.The research background of this paper is the workshop production of pulse power electronics. The workshop production management features and its information needs are analyzed and in-depth analysis on enterprise business flow, information flow and logistics of each workshop is studied. Thus, the planning management and logistics management are strengthened, manufacturing execution systems for the overall design and architecture principles is put forward and functional requirements of the system are ensured. Depending on the operating needs of the MES system, architecture based on C/S mode is proposed and security design system is deeply studied. In this paper, a detailed study of how to deal with the underlying data, how to arrange the workshop program, how to control the production schedule, how to manage workshop equipment and how to control product quality and traceability are carried out, then sub-function modules of the MES system is put forward and a total system data flow diagrams and functional structure diagram is drawn; on the basis of the analysis of system functional modules like planning and scheduling management, and production schedule control management and inventory management and other modules, data flow diagram of the functional modules is drawn.While the related business flow is analyzed and a flow chart is drawn.MES is the information bridge between the upper planning layer and the underlying control layer, so information transmit is existed between MES and other system information, namely the information interaction between systems. The way information exchange is mainly used XML data files in the paper. The system information integration models and methods is adopted, the use of databases and SQL statements interconnect technology is designed to complete the conversion of heterogeneous data. ERP system of enterprise and the MES system integration issue is solved.According to the analysis of overall design and needs of each functional module system, MES system for enterprise is developed and an example of the functional modules operation is shown. At the same time, through the practical application of the system in production workshop, product quality is improved, production cost and consumption is reduced, and production management level is improved as well, thus making the enterprises in a leading position in the market competition.Finally, throughout the process of the development and implementation of the system, the basic needs of enterprise management workshop to optimize the production process are finished and the efficiency of production operations management is improved. Also the prospect of the project is anticipated; MES system will be developed with the development of information technology and management requirements. Meanwhile, the need of integration of MES with other systems is the need of business development as well, which is the major issue that should be focused in the future.Overall, the development and application of the MES system can improve the company’s overall production management level, improving the delivery rate. Also the competitiveness of enterprises is advanced as well.
