The Design And Implementation Of On-line Examination System For Chengde Petroleum College

Since 90’s in last century, the computer networking technology has been developing rapidly, which has brought the human society into a whole new age of information. A great number of new ways of management and work depending on computer network has emerged. CAA is one of the representative technologies on the information-based evaluation of modern education. CAA utilizes an online examination system. General or specialized exam systems home and abroad can not meet the demand of our college. Thus, an online exam system that is suitable for our college is in urgent need.The CDPC online exam system is based on the typical B/S structure. It uses Microsoft’s VS.NET as the development platform. Exams are implemented in computer labs and supervised by teachers. The system is composed of 4 subsystems such as exam management, item pool, online testing and examination administration.A preliminary online exam system and a small item pool are built as the result of the system developing activities. According to the tests and trials of the system, it has realized its designed functions and even has some predominant features compared with traditional examinations, such as the simplicity of test paper composition, the agility of testing, the intelligent scoring of certain items etc., which can relieve labor intensity of teachers. Therefore, we can draw the conclusion that online exam systems are the future of its kind. It can economize human resources and material resources, as well as standardize and rationalize examinations. And the examination procedures are more open and transparent. However, more sufficient and higher-level item pools are required before large-scale applications, as well as more system testing and later optimizations.The system employs some edge cutting technologies. Item pools are optimized scientifically by bringing in the degree of difference and difficulty. Being used, item pools will be updated in an evolutive way, with the degree of difference and difficulty changing with time. These are what this system differs from the rest.
