With the development of video codec technology, video transmission technology and 3G network technology, 3G real-time video transmission technology is gradually applied in car video monitoring field. Because of the protection of intellectual property rights, the vehicle video monitor manufacturers use different types of video transmission technique route with RTP/RTCP and TCP in two ways. Theoretically the real-time performance of RTP/RTCP is better than that of TCP. But in practical engineering, TCP transmission mode has better stability and relatively easy developing applications. Although some large companies use RTP / RTCP to transmit 3G real-time video, but there are still many small companies still use TCP. For start-up companies, the difficulty of development and products’ performance are factors that must be taken into account. At present, we are short of research on 3G real-time video transmission performance of RTP/RTCP and TCP. So the research has important engineering significance.This thesis realize a system working in 3G environment,which could transmit real-time video by RTP/RTCP and TCP in two ways. In addition to this, the system could test the time delay and the video quality of RTP/RTCP and TCP.It’s getting easy to analyze performance of the two transmission ways. There are two main contents in this thesis. Firstly, the implementation of the experimental system : Complete analysis of the actual 3G real-time video transmission system’s working process,and design the experimental system after that; Completed the implementation of the system by transplanting embeded linux system, implementing video capture module, H.264 compression module, video transmission module respectively based on RTP/RTCP and TCP and transmission performance test module; Complete the transmission performance test. Secondly, Complete the test of RTP/RTCP and TCP respectively of its one-way transmission delay and image quality In 3G environment. From the data obtained, although, the real-time performance of RTP/RTCP is better than TCP’s, the image quality of TCP is better than RTP/RTCP’s.From the point of engineering practice, this subject show the implementation of a 3G real-time video transmission experimental system and do the video transmission experiment.At last, We obtain the performance data of the two transmission way. The data provide a certain reference value for enterprises.
