With the development of triple-play technology, triple-play based services are considered as an extension of business goals by the major telecom operators. IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) service is a triple-play service including voice, data and video services. It can effectively combine traditional broadcasting television, telecommunications and data services in three different areas of business, and can offer a good opportunity for the triple play. IPTV is the entry point for the cooperation of broadcasting sector and telecom operators.In this paper, the solutions how to carry IPTV services on bearer network are proposed, and several key technologies for bearer network are studied, which includes networking mode, multicast, and QoS(Quality of Service) technology. Networking mode is the basis for carrying IPTV services, multicast deployment is the premise for saving operator’s network resources, and QoS guarantee is the key to the development of IPTV service. In order to promote the rapid development of IPTV services, these three key technologies should be rationally planed. On the basis of analyzing the existing business networking mode and the functional node, according to the characteristics of bearer network and the demand of IPTV services in Wuhan Telecom, the business process and implementation scheme of IPTV bearer network is designed.
