Fixed assets, as an important economic resource of the companies, is considered to be the material guarantee for companies’ reproduction and continuing operations, which naturally determines the basic position of the fixed asset management in business development and management process. In fact, along with the universal application of information technology in the field of business management, different scale online ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) systems have penetrated into all aspects of business management, including fixed assets management system which play a fundamental role in business management, have made a significant contribution to reduce operating costs and improve enterprise efficiency. While, according to the survey research, the extent that the information technology is used in all types of enterprises during the traditional fixed asset management processes is usually very small, this phenomenon especially exists in SMEs.( Small and Medium Enterprises). The reason is that in one hand the complex types of fixed assets, long management cycle and specific financial calculation rules make the management process more difficult. In the other hand, the existing fixed assets management system is mostly running as an affiliated sector in a certain ERP system and usually out of touch with practical application scenarios, which means these systems are unable to meet the demand for flexible management in the aspects of access control, co-ordinate inter-agency collaboration and financial aspects. Therefore, the authors chooses SMEs, whose type of business accounts for the largest proportion, as the research object, and then digs up fixed asset management requirements, trying to explore the technical approach to build a business positioning accuracy, high available and expansive fixed asset management system for SMEs.The main content of this paper is to complete a fixed assets management system for SMEs after analyzing the research result in fixed asset management processes, to feed the demands of most SMEs’ requirements with the most stable enterprise application technology framework SSH(Spring + Struts +Hibernate) and UML(Unified Modeling Language) tools according to a strict software engineering course. It takes nine months for the author to complete the requirements analysis, technical architecture design, outline design, detailed design, database design and implementation of that target system. Then the system undergoes a comprehensive unit testing, integration testing, stress testing, and user testing. Finally, a user-friendly fixed asset management system with solid foundational framework and complete business functions is running stably on the simulated production environment. Test results show that the whole system functions well. The target of the system developed has been achieved. |
