The frequency of millimeter wave is between the microwave and infrared, it has the characteristics of two kinds of spectrum. First of all, the wavelength of milimeter wave is very short so that the penetrability for ionosphere is very strong and suitable for satellite communications. Once more, the range of millimeter wave is so wide that it has more available spectrum resource. Finally, the interaction with the atmosphere is so serious that can be applied to security communication. In conclusion, the prospects of millimeter wave are so broad that various countries in the world have begun to research it. Millimeter wave communication is the inevitable trend of future development.In this paper, a W band planar hybrid integrated transceiver front-end is presented. The transceiver works at 94 GHz and its bandwidth is 3GHz, in the second atmospheric window of millimeter wave. The transceiver consists of many modules, there mainly are millimeter wave module and microwave module, and transceiver will be assembled in a chassis, which can be more conveniently when using and taking.The main work of this paper is:1. Introduce the background and significance of the research briefly, and then list some development trends of the world in order to provide the reference value for this paper.2. Elaborating some useful tranceiver architecture, and selecting suitable architecture for this paper based on performance indexes, design difficulty and complexity.3. After determining tranceiver architecture, distribute requirements for each function module based on tranceiver performance indexes, and begin to design each module.4. Firstly, the paper analyzed the performance indexes, concrete scheme, design method, devices select, debug and test of three modules in millimeter wave module in detail. Secondly, the paper presented some details which need to pay attention to when designing and debugging, stated the problems have encountered and gave solution. Thirdly, the paper analyzed the performance indexes, concrete scheme, implement method and measurement result of each unit modules in microwave module, analyzed whether each module will have effect on the performance of the transceiver front-end, and laid the foundation for cascading testing.5. After designing and debugging all modules, then begin to cascade and test the performance of the tranceiver front-end, finally, assembling in a chassis have designed.6. Proposing some improvement suggestions for shortcomings which have met during testing tranceiver frond-end.
