The Application Research And Realization Of Desktop Virtualization Technology In Computing Centers In Universities And Colleges

Cloud computing is a hot topic in the IT industry, and the virtualization technology is the key technology of cloud computing applications. Currently, virtualization has become the future development trend of IT industry, it has stepped into a relatively mature application stage.Nowadays, computer has become a necessity of people’s daily life and work. As the increasing number of the computers, the problems of the subsequent management and maintenance of the computers are also increasingly prominent, which make a great challenge for the related staffs in universities and colleges. And the reasons for the problems are nothing more than individual differences, such as each user’s peculiar using habits, their different demands for the operating system, different application softwares, different teaching courses, etc.. which brought frequent changes between the formats and to meet these requirements meaning a heavy workload. To efficiently solve this problem, desktop virtualization emerged.There are there main tasks in this paper. First, the technology features of desktop virtualization are illustrated, the feasibility of the project is proposed and the overall designing ideas and structures are generalized. Second the testing environment is created by 150 computers in 15 computer center as a testing platform and the detailed project designing and planning are made. Third, the test on the effect of commissioning experience, and after comparing the pros and cons from all sides, the existing practical problems and solutions are given.This paper mainly studies how to apply desktop virtualization technology in the university computing centers so as to provide optimized support for computer-related courses teaching. Facing the mainstream and non-mainstream virtualization systems in the market, the paper selected the suitable virtualization system by adapting to the practical situation of the computing center to solve the practical teaching applications and management problems. And it made in-depth analysis on the advantages and problems of the desktop virtualization technology in the practical application, which finally passed a test run and achieve the expected purpose.
