This paper focuses on the research IEC60870-5-104 protocol security issues carried out based on Ethernet technology and TCP / IP technology.Based on the study of IEC60870-5-104 protocol, in-depth discussion of the need of adequate security mechanisms about IEC60870-5-104 protocol in the network environment and the actual power system, then analysis of the shortcut of IEC60870-5-104 protocol on communication security, this paper summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of existing data security algorithms, and eventually do an effective security mechanism solutions.The mechanism includes DES encryption algorithm and HAMC-MD5 authentication algorithm security, which give IEC60870-5-104 protocol a better security. In order to achieve the proposed goals for IEC50870-5-104 protocol.Packet frame structure has been expanded to IEC104,which is added a message authentication field, forming a secure communication protocol for remote terminal RTUSec. This paper describes the structure of the statute RTUSec agreement,transfer rules, the implementation process, such as, in particular, pointed out that the agreement significantly better than the original in terms of security IEC50870-5-104 protocols to ensure the confidentiality of transmitted data integrity and Reliability of sources.Finally, the study has been done with the corresponding programming and a set of security mechanisms based remote terminal application software and HT2000 g RTU remote terminal platform. On that platform, its function and the communication message security testing and analysis. Experimental results demonstrate the remote terminal security protocol RTUSec effectiveness and feasibility of this design.Both the research and development are verified and implemented on the actual remote terminal unit equipment. So, the results of this research has a good significance and practical value in the actual power systems.
