With the rapid progress of information technology, security has become a more and more important issue. The state-of-the-art cryptology can offer the highest level of information security. As one of the open trusted computing and security standards, the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) defined by Trusted Computing Group (TCG) includes many data encryption standards. The Keyed-Hash Authentication Code (HMAC) and Secure Hash Algorithm (SHA-1) have been adopted by the TPM in order to support the special demands for authentication and protection with security.HMAC has been well used in identity authentication, data integrality and network security. But most of it is implemented by software and its security can't be well ensured. So its implementation by hardware has become hotspot now.This thesis starts from the key protocols of the TPM and the arithmetic of HMAC and the HMAC coprocessor connected with the mcu mc8051 is designed with less area demand. In order to decrease the area, power and increase the speed of the coprocessor, some digital IC design technologies are adopted in this design. In order to increase the security of the coprocessor, some methods against security attack are adopted.This thesis analyzes the application of information security with TPM and HMAC and describes the RTL design of HMAC coprocessor. The VLSI architecture of HMAC has been designed. At last the Design Compiler is used to get the maximal frequency and area. By analysis the HMAC coprocessor can be used in the TPM, also can be used in other systems as IP.The design work of HMAC coprocessor is very important in the development of our country's information industry and provides some technology and methods in ASIC design.
