With the rapid development of garment manufacturing and couture design, the need for virtual try-on system is becoming increasingly urgent. Involved with character anima-tion, garment modeling, physically based cloth simulation and soft body collision detection, virtual try-on system is inherently so intricate that it still remains not fully settled though tremendous amount of endeavor has been applied.Algorithms such as character animation editing, garment modeling, collision detection are researched and implemented in our virtual try-on system VirtualStudio. The h-anim editing subsystem is a nonlinear animation editor which handles skeletal animation key frame blending and interpolation. To lighten the workload of animators, auto-rigging and IK features are also embedded. We also build an efficient virtual garment generation pipeline which is capable of transforming 2D pattern to 3D garment, thus makes preview of draping possible. The virtual try-on system comes with this thesis shortens the workflow of garment design. Using this tool, designers now can take advantage of significant efficiency gains by the early assessment of designs.
