Along with the increasing of business type and bandwidth in Altay grid,the SDH network has’ t been able to meet this requirement.The key technology of PTN is packet switching. It compensate for the deficiency of SDH technology, and follows the development of grid. The advantage of PTN include Qo S, OAM, protection switching, phase synchronization and so on.Therefore, in order to ensure the stable operation of grid, to solve the problem of bandwidth, construction of PTN is planned by Altay company.One of the prominence of this paper is to predict bandwidth demand in the next few years. It expounds the present situation of Altay grid communication network, and analyzes the business type and volume.Base on the bandwidth analysis, the company decide to construct the three layer PTN network: core layer, convergence layer and access layer. The structure of PTN network is the combination structure of ring and chain.It is consistent with cable topology. On this basis, this paper finished the overall design.The designs of PTN network include optical cable design, PTN device design, transmission design of long distance,network form design. The PTN device use the ZTE product. The design contents of the core layer and convergence layer equipment comprise board design, optical module design, business interface design, IP design of site and protection design. And on this basis, it design transmission long distance of PTN system and docking with the SDH device interface.Before PTN equipment can be used in Altay grid, they need to be tested. The test contents include optical module test, performance test of ethernet board, multiple service transmission test, protection test and test of docking with the SDH device interface. The test results show that the design of PTN network is meeting the actual demand of Altay grid.
