Design And Research Of Spiritual Care Service System For Empty Nest Elderly In City Community

Nowadays the spiritual endowment problem has increasingly attracted society’s attention. In pace with the ever rapid development of living level in city and information technology popularization, more and more old people begin to use the Internet, including the mobile Intenet. It will be of high value to do research in field of designing and implementing a spiritual care service system for the empty-nest elderly in city community with use of the Internet, aiming to meet some spiritual care needs of elderly.Regarding quite a few disadvantages in physical, mental and cognitive abilities of the elderly cohort, understanding elderly’s characteristics and their urgent service demands plays a critical role in service system design. This thesis intended to design a service-demands-oriented spiritual care service system for empty-nest elderly in city community with iPad. In order to gain more features on they using the Internet and their service needs, we conducted community surveys. And for incorporating these survey results into system and process design, the Cognitive Work Analysis framework was adopted. Afterwards, for the purpose of better satisfying the elderly, we proposed an evaluation method for service quality and a service process optimization model.Chapter 1 introduced the research background of this project, the thesis’s main research topics, and the literature review. Then we presented the thesis’s primary content, framework, and its research significance.Chapter 2 elaborated about community surveys and system’s service requirements. Through community surveys, statistical analysis and interviews, we acquired some characteristics about elderly’s Internet participation and service demands, achieving some favorable design references.Chapter 3 put forward the system’s scheme and accomplished the functional requirements analysis. Accordingly to the survey results and design references, system’s two most important functions were proposed, namely, the community activity organization, and the mutual assistance & volunteering. Moreover, we brought forward the community service coordination institution-Service Coordination Group. Then we designed system’s functional interfaces based on iPad.Chapter 4 was about system’s key design methods and technologies, including three parts: 1) the overall system analysis by means of Cognitive Work Analysis, containing Work Domain Analysis, Control Task Analysis, Strategies Analysis, and Social Organization and Cooperation Analysis; 2) service process description according to the main actor types in system, and service process modeling with the IDEF3 method; and 3) service quality evaluation, which the service process optimization method was investigated based on.Chapter 5 summarized the research work and concluded some future directions.
