Constructing The Comprehensive Evaluation System Of Usability Of Smart Phones

With the rapid development of modern intelligent technology, smart phones change everyday, followed by the change of the habit of people using mobile phones.In the past research ofmobile phone usability research using feature phones, the content mostly focus on generalfunction of mobile phone, for example, calls and text messages. In recent years, with theincreasing range of smart phones, the habits of people in using mobile phones have also changed,the use of the application of various kinds of life convenience more frequently, such as maps andsocial software.In the past, when it comes to research methods, study on mobile phone usabilitymostly use indicators to evaluate the results, such as time on task and the accomplishment ratioof task.This study is to adopt three methods, including listing verification, smart phone usabilityquestionnaire and performance testing, to comprehensive assessing mobile phone usability, fromdifferent aspects to compare mobile phone usability.On the construction of checklist, by usingthe method of literature review and expert evaluation, we edit the checklist on task and checkliston interface, and the checklist on task contains two parts, one of the parts is task dependent andthe other is task independent. On the choice of checklist, using two different types of touchscreen mobile phone to evaluate three checklist, ensuring that the chosen checklist is available todistinguish between two phones of the differences.Finally, using the comparative selection ofchecklist, performance test and questionnaire jointly assess usability of touch-screen smartphones.In this study, the experiment to evaluate a purpose aimed at formation of the checklist, using10usability experts and11skilled phone user to evaluate with the checklist on interface andchecklist on task. Experiment eventually based on availability and assessment of mobile phoneusers of skilled experts to modify the checklist.The usability experts pointed out that checklist onthe task is easier to find the usability problems of function, checklist on interface is moreapplicable to evaluate the usability problems in the interface design.Experiment2used two kinds of checklist to evaluate two different models of mobile phones, using data of14subjects. By comparing the two types of checklist of mobile phone usabilityidentification degree and the number of usability problems, including definition of usabilityproblems means the average score below the average in the project.The results showed that theevaluation based on the task checklist, show significant differences on the usability of twophones.For checklist on interface, although there are differences between two phones, but thedifference was not significant. Experiment3used checklist on task, mobile phone usabilityquestionnaire and performance testing as measurement indicators to assess the usability of twodifferent phones, and in the process of experiment, the participants in both before and aftercompleting the task need to mobile phone usability questionnaire assessment.Results show that:(1) in the evaluation of mobile phone usability questionnaire, there is only one device thatshowed significant differences before and after completing the task, but two phones in the beforeand after the task evaluation have significant differences.(2)the analysis results based on the taskchecklist showed no significant difference of two phones;(3) in the results of performance test,the task completion, task completion time and the analysis of the operating path length showedno significant differences between two phones, but on the different tasks, two phones have theirown advantages.In addition, on the whole, samsung S4on more tasks performance is better thanthat of huawei honor6, compared to the results of the mobile phone usability questionnaire, tosome extent, is the same.
