In recent years, with the improvement of people’s awareness of environmentalprotection and standards of living, indoor air quality has been attracting more andmore attention. Most existing indoor air quality monitoring system has disadvantages,such as having low level of networking, having a small monitoring area, not forlong-term monitoring and analyzing. A novel indoor air quality monitoring systembased on ARM is designed in this paper. Using the system, multiple indoor airpollutants can be real time monitored and analyzed in the large-scale distributedrooms, each room’s air quality can be evaluated in real time, and historical monitoringdata can be analyzed and displayed in the system. The main works of this paper are asfollowing:(1)A novel indoor air quality monitoring system based on ARM is designed. Inorder to meet the requirement of monitoring indoor air quality in large-scaledistributed area, the system is designed and divided into three layers: the data acquirelayer, the data concentrate layer and the data management layer. This is also benefit todesign and deploy of the system. The data acquire layer is used for collection data.The data concentrate layer is used for transfer and concentration data. The datamanagement layer is used for management and analysis data.(2)The RS485and the Ethernet technology are employed to communicatebetween the data acquire layer and the data concentrate layer and between the dataconcentrate layer and the data management layer. Thus, the system can be used in theindustrial environment. The monitoring data can be sent to the remote monitoringsystem.(3)The data acquisition device in the data acquire layer is designed base on thecommon used basic hardware and the Zigbee technology. The system is open. Based on underlying hardware provided in paper, different types of indoor pollutantsmonitoring device can be developed and added to the system.(4)The Index AHP evaluation model is employed to evaluate the indoor airquality in real time. A dynamic time window parameter, which can be configured bythe system user, is used to Constructing judgment matrix.(5)A test environment is set up to test the performance of the system. Theexperiments show that the system has features of simple operation, easy networkingand real time monitoring. It can meet the requirements of indoor air qualitymonitoring in a distributed environment.
