With the rapid development of the information technology, and the economic integration degree is increasing, more and more enterprises established R&D centers in China, especially those IT companies based in Silicon Valley traditional likes HP, IBM, google and Ebay. Because China has become one of the world’s largest potential markets, on the other hand the market is full of high quality labor force, and compare to the America and other countries in Europe, the labor cost is relatively low. But with the continuous expansion of business scale, the corresponding software products scal are increased also, more and more personel are involved, the business logic is more complex and brings challenge for the project management. According to some incomplete statistics, about70%of software projects beyond the original development plan, the worse case is the project was postponed about20%-50%time compare to the original plan.This paper takes the global deliver center of HP in Shanghai as example, analyzes the existing problems in the schedule management of the software project, using the theory of project management as guideline to improve the project management skills and eventually make sure the project is delivered on time. This article introduced the theory and methods of project management, the background knowledge of software project management, and the theoretic method of project schedule management and control technology. Analyzed the status of project management in HP GD Center, find out the existing problems and improve the management skill via the use of critical path method and Agile Project Management.
