In 1995, Bill Gates showed the future of a new type of physical contact model of ass ociative firstly in "the road ahead". Till the Massachusetts institute of technology (MIT) f ormally put forward the concept of Internet of Things and give the basic definition In 199 9,"Internet of Things" as quickly spread around the world. As the Internet of things of pra ctice in full swing, and the coming of cloud computing and big data environment, smart 1 ibrary arises at the historic moment, and take root in China. Such as, the library of Shang hai JiaoTong University clearly put forward in the "twelfth five-year" medium and long-t erm development plan, by 2020, strive to build smart library, and puts forward the five el ements of smart library. In addition, the Malaysian national library abroad in 2014 began to implement smart library project. By 2015, China built the first domestic real smart libr ary - YanTian smart library. Such an environment to promote the library to more advance d provides unprecedented opportunities for the development of smart library.Foreign scholars research on smart library focus on RFID experiment technology, in formation architecture, virtual construction and other aspects. In China, domestic scholar s to make the theory research mainly from the basic concept of smart library, service mod e and constructing elements, etc. It is not difficult to find that: for the smart library theory and practice research is still in its initial stage in China. It is against this background, this paper use literature investigation, analysis and instance method and other methods to dis cuss on the basis of the definition of smart library, on the analysis development present si tuation of the smart library in our country, and focus on sorting out the differences betwe en Internet of things, intelligent library and digital library. After all, this paper has analyz ed the problem we faced in constructing a smart library in our country and proposed the c orresponding solution with Shanghai JiaoTong University library as an example.
