The Study Of The Connecting And Strengthened Papers Used In Ancient Books Repairing

It is the most basic and common operation to connect the aging and cracking paper to reinforced in ancient books reparation and the cotton paper is a vital material for it. But the wide varying categories and qualities of the cotton paper leads to the lack of relevant research on how to choose the right category to guarantee the repairing effect.The thesis raised the specifications of the connecting paper in repairing by analyzing the paper’s performance and the repairing effect. Including four aspects: security,appearance,functionality and Durability.And then the author doing the performance testing, covering the analysis of the paper fibers, pH, thickness, stability, tensile strength and folding endurance.Next, the measure of the durability of paper is taken by performing heat aging at 105℃.The results are shown in tabular form, containing each connecting paper’s performance and provide a reference to repairing personnel.The thesis takes the repairing of SUI SHU as example, adding the process of applying the tabular form to select papers scientifically.And through improving some details of repairing manipulation, a better result has been gained.
