Based on interviews of journalists and editors of newspaper and television station in Shanghai, this article explores how news production routines are changing when it comes to the choosing and judging process of clues from the Internet.Sourcing from the Internet has become a new routine for journalists and the production of news from the Internet is forming some new rules, though the classic news production routines have not changed fundamentally.There has been media who set special department to source from the Internet and produce news. As to individual journalists, way of ranging the "news net" on the Internet varies according to their different roles. Junior journalists rely more on sources from the Internet than seniors; journalists who experts at social news and breaking news rely more on Internet sources than journalists of other beats. While television journalists casting their news net on news portals, newspaper journalists tend to source from social network platforms such as Sina Microblog. Some official accounts of traditional media and star journalists are becoming the new nodes.Traditional "news values" are still dominating the selecting process of news clues from the Internet. Journalists has developed a serious of rules on how to judge whether the clue on the Internet is reliable. The popularity of the issue among netizens is becoming a subordinate rule to decide whether and how to develop news about that issue.
