On The Research Of Shi Chengjin’s Family Heirloom

Family Heirloom,written by Chengjin Shi in the Qing Dynasty,is the quintessence of morality book in the Qing Dynasty of China. Being repeatedly printed and published,it covers a wide range of contents including social anecdotes,folk customs,agricultural and medical figures,traditional classics,etc. Ideologically,it not only encourages moralities,values filial piety,corrects the evil and develops the good,but also contains abundant educational concepts. By sorting out literature edition,this paper focuses on the propagation process of Family Heirloom and gives a full interpretation for the educational concepts in it.Specific research results are as follows:In Chapter l,on the one hand,life stories of the author of Family Heirloom are investigated. Based on previous studies,this paper illustrates Chengjin Shi’s life stories and his strict compliance with traditional etiquettes. Moreover,it analyzes Chengjin Shi’s ideologies reflected in Family Heirloom. On the other hand,the collections and editions of Family Heirloom are teased out. Due to the different printing times of complete book,Family Heirloom has different classifications of catalogue. To be specific,the catalogue of three different editions such as Ti Yuan Tang edition,Ben Ya Zang edition,and lithographic printing edition of Shanghai Publishing House can be compared to detect the trace around the publication of Family Heirloom,so as to fully understand the process of the publication of Family Heirloom. Besides,several different editions of Family Heirloom are expounded from the perspective of philology.In Chapter 2,the cultivation of education habits in Family Heirloom is discussed. The educational thought in Family Heirloom covers all age groups from younger children to older children. Furthermore,many educational concepts benefiting the studies of private school are introduced in detail.In Chapter 3,the education concepts in Family Heirloom and the meaning of it are discussed.
