The Relationship Between Media Bias And Local Protection

I will recall as the domestic auto industry automotive negative information, and then, from newspaper reports on the performance of the vehicles to observe and explore the local paper media relations and factors affecting the protection of paper media reported behavior. This paper focuses on the performance of the newspaper on the vehicles information-whether the reported number of reports, reports and other acts sooner or later, and whether these behaviors associated with the local newspaper qualities newspaper belongs provinces. In addition, the paper also carried a newspaper subdivision-Morning, Evening and Metropolis, and through sub-sample analysis in the form of effects of different types of car recalls newspaper reported behavioral differences.We find, first of all, the different types of newspaper reports for car recall information vary. Due to more official, daily newspaper reports more regulated local governments, and therefore less choice for auto recall, late reports; relative terms, newspapers more commercial properties, relatively less regulated by the local government and the Metropolis and Evenings significantly more in reporting the vehicles, compared with timely reports. Second, when the importance of the interaction term local car events reported regression, I found that, in the eastern provinces, more important is the local automotive industry, more timely, more often reported by daily newspaper for local automotive recalls, "local protectionism" phenomenon is significantly unexisted in eastern area; by contrast, the Midwest, daily performance in this area is not significant, especially in the descriptive statistics, the above phenomenon is more obvious. I think, the Midwest paper media presence "local suspect protection".The above phenomenon describes: the role of paper media in industrial protection and local protection shouldn’t be ignored. Paper media is the bridge between the government and the consumers. In eastern region, the paper media is already showed being significantly open. However, in Midwest region, paper media still needs further government regulation being further liberalized.
