Review The Important Treatises Of Gwanggaeto Stele Written By Chinese Academics Since The 1980s

Gwanggaeto Stele, also known as "wangneungbi" and "Hotae Wangbi", is the oldest data we have found in the stone inscription about koguryo nation. This is an important node in the field of ancient literature study of northeast of China. Gwanggaeto inscription mainly records the origin of koguryo, legends of establishing the nation and the lineage of kings. Especially, there are some social and military conditions fully detailed in Gwanggaeto inscription during the reign of King Gwanggaeto of Goguryeo. Moreover, the inscriptions involve something about grave keeper and keep a detailed record of residence registration system. Inscriptions of Gwanggaeto Stele not only record the history of koguryo, but also record the history of the minority nationalities around the koguryo nation. These inscriptions help filling in gaps of the historical records and offer abundant data to the basic study of the Northeastern ancient culture. It is useful for us to know history, social nature and relationships with important countries of Goguryeo. Gwanggaeto Stele is very important in ancient documents of Northeast and Northeast Asian region.Since Gwanggaeto Stele was discovered, there has been more and more researches on it and published many papers. The researched issues include inscriptions, rubbings, the time of discovering, history, calligraphy of Gwanggaeto Stele and so on. Researchers at home and abroad have studied those and got some good results.In this thesis, in order to provide a reference of studying the context of Gwanggaeto Stele in the new period, we introduce some important literatures and comments written by Chinese scientists and scholars in this research field. They facilitate the understanding of Gwanggaeto Stele. We also summarize the academic achievements during this period. This thesis has four chapters, the contents are as follows: discovery time, the rubbings research, tablet inscription translating and research of important items in tablet inscription. There is an appendix at the end, and it lists many research works of Gwanggaeto Stele for retrieving easily.
