The existing wireless sensor network which is based on the main and slave nodes in the agriculture Internet of things, the main node usually establishes TCP connection and transmits data by GPRS. Although it is convenient, its cost is high and if GPRS cannot get into contact with the server (such as SIM card arrearage, GPRS signal too weak and so on), the main node cannot transmit the data to the server, which results in losing data or data real-time.Moreover, main node and slave node’s communications is unilateral, namely slave node is responsible for collecting data and sends the data to main node but slave node never cares for whether the main node has received the data or not. It is the same to server and main node.For wireless sensor network’s single path and unilateral communication problem, I research and design the heterogeneous communication platform and heterogeneous communication system. Heterogeneous communication platform is based on STM32. This platform with WIFI, GPRS and ETHERNET can establish three uploading ways. Heterogeneous communication platform can select communication way self-adaptively, and realizes self-management, self-regulation and self-configuration of the power, rate and other resources.This paper have five sections. Firstly, this paper describes the development of the Internet of things and the necessity of design of heterogeneous communication platform; secondly, this paper describes the TCP/IP associated with this article, hardware bus and RTOS; thirdly this paper elaborates the functions and overall framework of heterogeneous communications platform; fourthly,, hardware design; fivethly, heterogeneous communication system’s software design, including communication protocol, client software, server software, and configuration software.Through the actual test, heterogeneous communication system designed in the paper meets the design requirements.
