Since 1843,Shanghai became a treaty port open to the West,lots of Protestants and Jesuit brought their relief as well as Western humanistic here.ln the total Late Qing period,Shanghai produced thousands of works concerning on the impact of Western humanistic as well as traditional Chinese academic woks.This thesis adopts the method of philology to research the former works of Shanghai in late Qing dynasties.This thesis is composed by Preface, brief biograpgies, the Bibliography and Reference. According to the research, about 1802 works written by 224 authors in this period are found. In the Preface, three main features is picked after a though study of the Western humanistic Bibliography of late Qing dynasty in Shanghai. In the biograpgies part, every author of the works is planned to have a brief biograpgy according to limited documents.The Bibliography is the main part containing all of the works which are put in to two parts:in existence now and having been recorded but not sure where being reserved.In the meantime, a few errors of some past reserch have got corrected. Finally, the thesis summarize an outline features through the development of these works.
