In recent years, there has been a surge of anti-intellectualism trend in our network media. In this stream of thought, intellectuals are along with the insulting title, such as "Tobacco and Alcohol Monk" "Dr. Dirt" "Called the Beast" and so on. At the same time, "the Experts Say" was knee-jerk questioned and opposition and "Anti-intellectualism Piece" is widely recognized and reproduced. In order to cater to the tastes of the public, the media itself has become the vanguard of anti-intellectualism, and the public work together to create a culture of binge situation. The phenomenon is changing the pattern of production and consumption of culture, destroying the traditional elite’s right to speak, and impacting the mainstream ideology, then, resulting in missing values. Therefore, it is necessary to study critically of the anti-intellectualism issues. Anti-intellectualism deliberately exaggerated the gap between the educated elite and the general public, with the carnival discourse, or the other extreme of moral judgment to express cultural mood, with deep social roots.This thesis takes the phenomenon of anti-intellectualism as the research subject, combined with communication study, sociology and the interaction between media, information and audience. Then comprehensive summarize the presentation forms of anti-intellectualism in the network media. Meanwhile, the research will study the reason why this cultural phenomenon can be popular, and try to clarify how the social environment affects the produce and spread of the phenomenon, then provide a different insight to the new phenomenon which is taking place in the current communication ecology.The main parts of the thesis contain introduction, body and conclusion.The introduction clarifies the study origin, significance and status.The body is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is the concept of "anti-intellectualism" and the historical context of development. Through analyzing the concept of "anti-intellectualism", I am setting up a clear concept of the scope in this study. In addition, I discriminate between several concepts which are easy to confuse—"Anti-intellectualism" and’^populist" "post-modernism". The second chapter is the deep analysis of the presentation forms of anti-intellectualism in the network media. In this chapter, I will combine with the interaction between media, information and audience to insight the anti-intellectualism dominated by the media, the phenomenon dominated by the audience, and the mutually opposed of the production and consumption in anti-intellectual phenomenon. The third chapter excavates the cause of the widespread anti-intellectualism. The author will interpret the cultural phenomenon in a special social context. The fourth chapter discourses the impact of widespread anti-intellectualism. One hand is thinking about the reform of the mode of transmission of knowledge, the other is thinking on a everlasting topic of the technology and civilization, finally I think about the establishment of a relatively conservation cultural values.The conclusion is the sublimation and supplement.
