With the continuous development of VoIP, video transmission, video streaming and other real-time new business, application providers need for quality of service and robust transmission network is increasing. Traditional IP routing detection mechanism has been unable to meet the demand of current network detection, but the bi-directional link detection technology which based on MPLS network has advantages like fast response, simple structure, adapt to a variety of devices and services. It can provide the next generation transport network with a universal and standardized fast detection. Therefore, the detection mechanism has been the industry standard as the next generation transport network alterations.So, the technique of BFD network fault detection based on MPLS network has become the important research direction. The paper contains the following work:Firstly, after in-depth study of the theoretical principles of MPLS and BFD protocol standards, the paper designs and implements BFD detection scheme based on MPLS network, and discuss the feasibility and effectiveness of such program.Secondly, after comparing multiple detection techniques based MPLS network, the paper analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of BFD detection scheme based on MPLS networks and proposed binding LSP-Ping technology and BFD detection technology with optimization.The optimization made up for important defects of the original BFD detection mechanism can not detect the consistency of MPLS network data plane and control plane.Thirdly, the paper designed a comprehensive test program and bullt three MPLS network test environment, and also test the validity of detection scheme designed by functional testing, performance testing, abnormal testing.Finally, after repeated testing BFD module, this paper found a design flaw of BFD detection module. This design flaw led to failure of BFD detection mechanism, leading to network failure. This paper discusses and analyzes the causes of the failure and achieve the corresponding solutions, and verify the effectiveness of the solution.
