Compared with the traditional roaming system based on geometry rendering, panoramic roaming technology based on real taken images has become a rapidly developed and popular branch of virtual reality as it is independent of scene complexity and occupies less storage space. With the development of science and technology, roaming system puts forward higher requirements about immersion and real-time interaction of virtual scene. Traditional panoramic roaming system for multi-viewpoint can operate on scaling and rotating in a single point but stereo sense is not strong. It happens visual jumps when transforms between viewpoints due to lacking of image information in the process of transition. How to enhance the sense of three-dimensional panoramic scenes and achieve the smooth roaming for multi-viewpoint is not only the key technology of enhancing the immersion of virtual roaming system based on image rendering, but also an important research direction in the field.The TIP(Tour into the Picture) technology is applied to the panoramic virtual roaming system, pseudo three dimensional geometric space can be constructed from a single image, by combining with the 360 degree cylindrical panoramic roaming, can realize longitudinal roaming in single view space. As the TIP is constructed by single image, the visual quality will be greatly reduced when the viewpoint is roaming into the scene. This paper extended TIP by introducing image multiresolution representation. TIP model were constructed in the depth direction by acquisiting multiple images, connecting a plurality of picture scenes to extend the virtual space, so visual quality almost remains unchanged in the roaming process. At the same time, this thesis makes research on multi-image registration of the transition process. The smooth transition of the single viewpoint in the longitudinal direction is achieved by combining two kinds of image registration of hierarchical estimation from coarse to fine and Fourier transform. Space stereo feeling is enhanced when roaming.At present,most of the panoramic roaming system can achieve the whole scene roaming by the two-way link between the multiple viewpoints. But the conversion among different views is not a smooth transition, there is a clear visual jump, users do not have a strong sense of immersion. To achieve the smooth transition of two adjacent view space, this thesis studies the smooth roaming technology based on image conversion. First of all, collects photo in the transition path; then according to the camera imaging model, establishes the relationship between space points and the projection point, and determine the relationship of image in translation motion; finally, the transitional image is synthesized by the characteristic lines of adjacent images. Experiments prove that this method effectively improve the smoothness of the conversion among multiple scenes.In this thesis, smooth roaming technology for multi-viewpoint virtual scene is applied to the panoramic roaming system, and the case of tourist attractions roaming. It achieves good three-dimensional stereo feeling and the effect of smooth transition.
