Walkthrough Technology In Panorama-Based Multi-Viewpoint VR

Image-Based Virtual Reality System is attracting more and more researchers because of its excellent performance, lower cost in hardware and higher quality. The CAD Laboratory of Xi' an University of Technology had developed a suite of Virtual Reality Development Kit. based on it' s research on cylindrical panorama-based virtual reality system after year 2001.Re-projection and smooth-transition technology is the kernel of panorama-based virtual reality system. The policy of zooming middle image is introduced to achieve approximate smooth transition animation. An efficient technology of re-projection template is presented in this paper. System' s workload and memory wastage are successfully reduced and become more stable. To optimize the VRViewer system, the module of memory management, navigation, user interface were meliorated.
