It is difficult to test multi-Access Points and multi-user terminal access in the development of wireless Access controller. A design and implementation of multi-AP simulation tool is proposed to solve it. Multi-AP simulation tool is based on LWAPP protocol.It simulates Communication process of the real AP, to achieve large-scale AP access、AC centralized management and enterprise network deployment. By this method, it can verify the performance of access processing and the ability of bear the pressure of wireless Access Controller. Multi-AP simulation tool implementing the wireless intrusion protection system, roles as network monitor-sensor, real-time monitoring the network traffic. It helps to assess not only the wireless Access Controller WIPS module’s work, but also stability of wireless intrusion protection system under the network of large-scale sensor deployment. Furthermore, it ensures estimates sensor deployment size and recommended default values under different wireless environment, etc.This paper mainly focuses on the development of multi-AP simulation tools, especially the wireless intrusion prevention system. First, it tells WLAN related knowledge for a full understanding of WLAN networks, and analyzes LWAPP network architecture; next, it explain the wireless intrusion prevention system in detail,we deeply understand WIPS’s working principle and mechanisms during the test;Then, we analyze the entire software needs, designed software architecture. According to the application scenario of simulation tool, we finally adopte a scheme which makes user configuration interface and the tools run independently; finally, we generally test the simulation tool, it proves that simulation tool can be efficiently applied in testing wireless Access Controller.The entire tool is divided into several modules: AP module、STA processing module、packet module,、statistics module and log module. AP module is mainly responsible for dealing with AP access, authentication, association, STA access and so on. It uses multi-threaded implementing multi-AP and multi-STA access the wireless network. Packets modules uses Win Pcap/Socket to send and receive packets that is self-encapsulated based on the structure of LWAPP packets. Statistics modules real-time monitor the network data and output to the interface. Log module records events in the network. In order to achieve a high performance and attain the function of testing wireless Access Controller, it takes performance verification after the basic functions of the simulation tools have been completed.After Multi-faceted software testing and modification, simulation tools eventually stably run on Windows / Linux system, either locally run, or run on the server side. Depending on the host’s hardware performance, simulation tool can perform stress testing and performance testing on a variety of AC. The test data obtained would be used to deploy the appropriate WIPS system network.
