Abstract/Summary:
Millimeter wave cylindrical lens antenna is a kind of aperture antenna with high directivity. It has some important advantages such as wide angle scanning, multi-beam shaping and low loss, these advantages make them widely used in the military and civil application. In this dissertation, two kind of wide-scan lens antenna based on cylindrical of dielectric with basic feed unit arrangement and form of circular arc form feed array is proposed here to satisfy the low loss, high gain and high efficient electronic scanning in millimeter wave band. Detailed researches are described as follows:The basic theory and analysis method of dielectric cylinder lens antenna are discussed. Two different forms of feeds included plane yagi antenna and straight tapered slot antenna are studied. In the lens antenna system, LTSA is selected as feed because it can control the beam width effectively, and the integrated circuit and the antenna well.The ray-tracing technique is adopted here to analyze the focus properties of horizontal polarization lens antenna. Using the electromagnetic software HFSS to analyze the illuminate of feed position, the radius of the cylindrical lens,beam width of feed antenna and waveguide spacing on the influence of radiation performance of horizontal polarization cylindrical lens antenna. Based on this, the LTSA is placed vertically to feed the perpendicular polarization lens antenna and the performance of this antenna is studied; the methods of broadening the pitch plane beam width and removing burrs in radiation pattern are proposed. The influence of loss tangent of dielectric cylinder on gain is analysed.The final design of two kind of polarization dielectric cylinder lens antenna can satisfy the certain radiation characteristics. Then the mutual coupling characteristics between feeds are analyzed when the multi-beam scanning and determining the spacing between feed suitable for multi-beam scanning.
