Due to its high precision and high data rate on single target continuous tracking and good performance on the measurement of target’s distance, angle and velocity, monopulse tracking radar has been widely used in the fields of arms control, target measurement and space exploration. In order to meet the demand of high efficiency with low energy consumption and of high functional requirements, it is necessary to build a radar simulation system using computer simulation technology.In this dissertation, based on Matlab Simulink platform, we build a monopulse tracking radar simulation system, and test the system in the flow of time signal level. The main working process of monopulse tracking radar is: the antenna beam points at the target area according to the guidance information, and radar searches for target within small range; when it detects the target the system enters tracking state with tracking parameters including the distance, angle and velocity of the target; then through the range tracking loop, servo system and velocity loop the four-dimensional continuous target tracking and measurement is realized. In this thesis, firstly, with the assignment of the monopulse tracking radar system, we introduce three main technologies of the radar system, including the target angle tracking and measurement, target velocity tracking and measurement, target distance tracking and measurement. Secondly, by analyzing the requirements of monopulse tracking radar system, the framework and work flow of the monopulse tracking radar simulation system is proposed, and the model building and development of simulation concentrative control platform is also introduced. Then, we analyze and modeling each module in the system, including environmental model, transmitter model, antenna model, receiver model, signal processor model and measuring model, servo system model and system scheduling model. Finally, the monopulse tracking radar simulation system is completed and is able to output tracking information of the target on distance, angle and velocity. The outputs from the simulation system shows that the system works well on target continuous tracking, Analyses of simulation results verify the efficiency and correctness of the monopulse tracking radar simulation system.
