Yeshengtao, the famous publisher who are Committed to the editing and publication nearly seventy years, he founded varieties of newspapers and magazines, edited and published many teaching materials, it is more difficult to counter how many publications he participated in editor, at the same time he discovered and cultivated a group of young people, he obtained great achievement of editing and publication. Although he had dead, the scholars are still keen on research of him, especially focus on the representatives of newspaper which he edit in chief, such as the axiom of daily, "the middle school students" and so on; the teaching materials which he edited and wrote, such as "Chinese language textbooks", "wen xin" and so on. The year of 2014 is the 120th birthday of Ye shengtao, the industry launched many thematic activities to memory Ye shengtao, re-examine ye shengtao’s unique theory of editing and publication. According to collect the data, the writer find that there still exists a certain gap in the research of ye shengtao, although when the experts and scholars researched the editing and publication theory results of ye shengtao, they had introduced ye shengtao’s three significant identities except publisher:litterateur, educator and social activist, but they just make simple introduction, not to make further research on the relationship between the three kinds of identity and publisher. Through careful analysis, the author thinks that litterateur, educator and social activist, these three kinds of identity has important influence on the editing and publishing career to ye shengtao, so far as to say that it is the important cause to the form of ye shengtao’s unique thoughts of editing and publication.Therefore, this paper make a concrete analysis as a breakthrough, in order to perfect the theory study of ye shengtao as far as possible, also give more profound thinking and revelation to today’s publishing.This paper takes the influence of ye shengtao’s litterateur, educator and social activist identities to editing and publication as the research subject, the structure is divided into five parts. The first part is introduction, mainly introduce the paper’s research origin, significance, research status, research methods and innovation. The second part bases on historical data, specific statements ye shengtao’s career of editing and publishing for nearly seventy years on the basis of time, and briefly introduce his practice and achievements of editing and publishing. The third part adopts the case study method, according to detailed analysis of the representatives of ye shengtao’s editing and leading works, it analyzes and researches ye shengtao’s theory of editing and publication which formed in the process of practice. The fourth part concludes the characteristics of ye shengtao’s personalized editorial thought. The fifth part mainly studies the characteristics causes of ye shengtao’s editorial thought, namely, ye shengtao’s litterateur, educator and social activist, these three identities influence on editing and publishing, clasp this theme according to the concrete case analysis and summary, and combined with the current situation of the development of the publishing industry to put forward a guiding enlightenment.
