The development of information technology has changed the way people access to information and improved the efficiency of access to information. The education of our country has made great achievements on informationization. However, Generally speaking, there exist some problems in education resources such as non-standard, poor redundancy and sharing. Meanwhile, most of the current information retrieval use the method of keywords matching retrieval, which lacks of semantic analysis, and the feedbacks only match the name of the content, causing the retrieval poor efficiency.To solve the problems above, this paper applies the theory of ontology. Through the construction of education ontology, the concepts in the field of education are described, thus creating a basis for improving the semantic retrieval accuracy. Based on the analysis above, this paper designs and implements the ontology-based educational resources metadata system. Firstly, this paper analyses the research status at home and abroad and studies the relevant theories and technologies. Secondly, this paper builds the ontology based education resources in accordance with the related principles. Thirdly, this paper designs the ontology-based education resources metadata management platform. The system analyses the retrieve content by using Jena techniques, and then get the content of semantic information retrieval. At last, the system returns the education resources corresponding to the semantic information to the user. Through the application of ontology, the system can get more accurately retrieve the resources user wanted than traditional information systems.
