With the development of mobile Internet and the popularity of intelligent terminal, China Mobile WLAN network has been developing rapidly, thus putting forward higher requirements for the maintenance and management of WLAN network. However, the traditional responsive mode of WLAN network maintenance and management can no longer satisfy the operators’ requirements on network management. Therefore, the future directions lie in the fine maintenance and management of WLAN network, and the real-time and efficient monitoring of WLAN network operation.In view of the current situations of China Mobile WLAN network maintenance and management, coupled with the operators’ internal management needs, the present study built a WLAN network evaluation index system, and designed and implemented a WLAN network load evaluation system, attempting to make a comprehensive evaluation of the load condition of WLAN network equipment, realize the automatic monitoring on the performance of WLAN network, and prepare for the subsequent network optimization and load balance. The WLAN network load evaluation system consists of four parts, namely data acquisition module, database module, load evaluation module and load evaluation presentation module. Data acquisition module, based on the SNMP protocol, collects the performance data of network equipment at a granularity of 15 minutes. Database module is mainly used to store equipment information and load evaluation information, which provides the basis for load evaluation. Load evaluation module first builds a load evaluation model based on FAHP and SVM algorithms. The FAHP algorithm can refer to network experts’ advice, while the SVM algorithm can realize the automatic evaluation of the performance data. The evaluation model will automatically evaluate the real-time performance data of the equipment and yield its load information. This module is the core of the entire load evaluation system. Load evaluation presentation module is the output part of the whole system and provides a human-computer interaction interface. According to user needs, this module performs tasks such as information query and online map display of the load evaluation results, etc. The development platform of the system is Microsoft Visual Studio 2012, the development language is C++, the development platform of the load evaluation modelling is Matlab 2012b, and the database used is Microsoft SQL Server 2008.The WLAN network load evaluation system developed in the present study has run in a city branch of China Mobile for half a year, with all modules showing stable and reliable performance. The system has been used in AC devices in a network company to realize real-time monitoring, load evaluation and the presentation of evaluation results. The average relative error of the load evaluation results provided by the system is less than 10%, which conforms to the WLAN network management requirements of the mobile company and improves its management level for WLAN network.
