With the rapid development of wireless technologies, wireless local area network is moving towards the mass, and gradually integrated into people's work and daily life. As wireless local area network has a higher throughput and greater coverage, users of WLAN will be more and more. Network hot spots will inevitably occur. How to achieve the load balancing for WLAN to keep the network stable and has a high quality of service is a key issue. Compared with wired networks, wireless network load balancing technology is more complex. This paper researches the access-type load balancing based on AC in WLAN.Firstly, this paper analyzes several major load balancing mechanisms. Then it makes deep study of load balancing mechanism based on AC for expand service set of WLAN and analyzes the three key issues for its implementation, which are the load estimation, the load information updating strategy and scheduling algorithm.In the term of load estimation, this paper proposes improvements based on a statistical estimation algorithm. The simulation results show that the improved algorithm has obvious advantages in the terms of estimating accuracy and delay. In the term of load information updating strategy, this paper proposes a strategy based on the combination of cyclical collecting and state-changing updating. Analysis proves that using this strategy can ensure the load information of AP to update in time and achieve trouble protection of AP. In the term of scheduling algorithm, ground on the load status of every AP and terminals detected beacon signal strength, it use a weighed algorithm to obtain every AP's access index, according to which to determine the access AP. Finally, this paper designs the software architecture for implementing the access-type load balancing based on AC.
