With the rapid development of national economy, polymers have been widely used to various fields such as industrial production and daily life, the demanding of output and quality of products is higher and higher. Many polymers, such as polyethylene, polypropylene and nitrochlorobenzene, are generated by polymerization in batch reactor. Batch reactor is the equipment with time-varying, strong nonlinear, large time delay and complex intern mechanism. The conventional PID control can hardly get satisfactory control result. Therefore, for a long time, batch process is the hotspot and difficulty in the study of process control field.Batch reactor temperature not only has a great effect on reaction rate, conversion rate and production, but also is an important indicator of impact product quality and energy consumption. Due to temperature is easy to be measured, so it often as a controlled object. The paper analyzes the characteristics and control difficulties of batch reactor temperature and put forward a new control strategy, DMC optimizing PID controller parameters (DOP). The control strategy is employed to optimize and adjust PID controller parameters adaptively according to the working condition, so that the batch reactor temperature can be controlled stably and robustly. In order to investigate the performance of the proposed controller, simulations are made to compare the proposed method with other methods. It is observed that the proposed method for batch reactor temperature control has better dynamic and static characteristics in the presence of external disturbance, time delay and model parameters mismatch, which can create conditions for guarantee polymer purity and improve energy efficiency.In this paper, considering the batch reactor in Liaoning Province key Laboratory of Advanced Control Systems for Industrial Equipment as the research object. Based on ControlLogix platform develop a remote monitoring system, which is constituted by field devices layer, engineer’s operating station and management layer. The paper introduces the organizational structure, as well as the implementation method of remote monitoring function. On this basis, the DOP method is adopted to control reactor temperature. The effectiveness is verified by actual running results which is helpful for solving the similar control problems.
