Family education, school education and social education are three important parts of the education which are complementary to each other and none of which could be omitted. Among them, social education is one subject, which could not be ignored. The museums’special education targeting children has become main topic in different fields in society nowadays. Under this circumstance, the main problems that scholars mostly consider are, as public space and mass media, what kind of and how much of influences do museums have for children’s space perception of knowledge and emotional experience; how children manage to build their sense of self knowledge and further achieve self socialization; whether the social education from museums is beneficial supplement for family and school education.In 2014, Gansu Museum organized Museum in My Heart attached with series of parenting activities. The researcher conducted field survey and got firsthand experience during these activities to understand changes of children’s knowledge and emotional experience acquired in such public spaces and to know how children build their self-knowledge. This research found that apparent changes emerged in children’s interactions with their parents and teachers in museum’s social education program. As public space and mass media, Museum with its the educational function definitely is beneficial supplement for family and school education. The multidimensional and multichannel communication pattern of museum proves to be the extension of education forms, which should be further expanded.
