With the fastening speed of urbanization and the strengthening sense of economy,a lot of labor force of the country area choose to leave their hometown and work in cities, in order to raise the level of living standard. Because of the traditional concept that men plays the key role in the society while women are confined to the family chores, men in country choose to work outside, while leaving their wives at home. Therefore, there is a “left-behind women group” in country.With the development of economy, the number of mass media and popularity increases gradually, and become the necessities of family life. Vast rural areas of the villagers are no longer constrained by "sunrise and make, whether" state of life, in order to adapt to the current social environment, the villagers actively seeking external information, information spread mass media, with its unique advantages, to participate in the new rural construction, so as to greatly reduce the transmission of the information gap between rural and urban areas. As the mainstay of the new rural construction, the development of left-behind women, directly affect the construction of new countryside. This study media contact impact on rural left-behind women self-development as the main content, to explore the intervention of mass media to influence the development of left-behind women whether as well as the medium of the masses in the daily life of left-behind women.This study focuses on the question that what the media affect the self-developing of the left-behind women, and it has both social value and realistic meaning. This study can be divided into five parts: first of all, the introduction. This part introduces the background, meaning, methods, creative points and literature reviews. The second part includes some concepts, and explains some theories used in this study. The third part introduces the condition of the surveyed area. The fourth part presents the result of the survey. The last part analyze the data, and to have a better understanding of the media effect on the left-behind women.The result shows that there is a diversity of the media effect on women according to their education level. However, the mass media agenda setting has a great influence on the information of left-behind women choose as a whole, the mass media has a positive effect of those women.
