The Entanglement Of Fact And Value

There have been such an argument in the field of journalism, fact and value can be completely separated. News objectivity requests the journalists should follow the facts and avoid the involvement of value absolutely. At the same time, other social sciences, almost all have been realized that there is a complex relationship between fact and value.From a philosophical perspective, this paper will through the analysis of the news reports of the inversion to see the relationship of fact and value in the field of news, and try to present this complex relationship. This study selected three news reversal reporting cases which all caused a public storm. They are the case of Yuan Lihai, the case of Lan Yuefeng, and the case of Tang Hui. The author will carry out the analysis from the news text and the news production. In order to show how the news reports of the inversion is happened in news text level, and in order to see the tangles of fact and value, this study mainly compares the two aspects in the news text level, which are the selection of facts and the means of reporting. In the news production level, according to the cognition of fact, the evaluation of fact, and the statement of fact, this paper wants to investigate why did the reversal reports happen. The final conclusion is that the driving of value orientation which throughout the entire process causes causes the reversal of news reports. Through the two aspect of text and production, this paper proves that the separation of fact and value is in reversal reports, and the fact and value are tangled.
