Development And Design Of The Animal Hospital Management System

In recent years, with the increasing number of companion animals leading to the rise of their peripheral industries, animal treatment industry also has been booming. As they grow up, management in most of the animal hospitals becomes more and more complicated, leading to the mounting problems of unclear division of labor among departments, heavy amount of data, and losing data by manual processing, etc. Especially the animal which need be hospitalized always takes a few days or weeks of treatment. With the development of computer technology, information management software has been playing an important role in all walks of life.,animal hospitals at abroad have used information management system in the treatment process. However, research on animal hospital information management system at domestic is still at the primary stage. The development of this system will contribute to promote the information management level of animal hospital and improve the efficiency of the staff.The hospitalized management system for animal hospital is developed based on the combination of life cycle method and prototyping method, by use of C/S system mode and Visual Basic.NET technology, and with SQL 2000 as background database. This system analyzes the animal hospital personnel requirements and investigate the treatment detailedly through the investigation of the animal hospital departments. Through the analysis of each department, operation functions of each department are defined and the business data relationships among each department are established, This system consists of the sub-modules of administrative staff, storehouse staff, receptionist, doctor, nurse, payee and drugstore staff and realizes the following functions:The system manager is able to manage the staff, the dictionary information, each department, drug information and check information by means of this software and then develops drug dictionary table and test dictionary table to maintain the normal operation of animal hospital. Storehouse staff can complete the statistics of the information of in-store, out-of-store and stock. Receptionist only need to enter the basic information of the animal, the owner and hospitalization, a simple operation. A doctor, in the treatment interface, finishes issuing case report, assay and prescription to make the medical record more complete, which helps to learn, communicate, and share. Payee can charge only in the payment information from the doctor. Drugstore staff provide drug according to the prescription and nurse records the time after finishing the disposal. Each database information among the various department in the animal hospital transmits in real time and updates rapidly, convenient and efficient.This system can realize the hospitalization process and the daily management of the business data entry, hospitalization and discharge statistical cases, discharge cost and case report, medical case data analysis, drugs purchased and outbound statements, income and expenditure summary data analysis function, can provide business automation support for each department which makes the management of each department in animal hospital standardized and systematized.The users of this system finish their jobs in their own right. The workload of manual input as well as statistics and data analysis is reduced. The user’s requirements are basically satisfied and informatization of basic work in each department is realized.
