Virtual scene roaming technology, an important expression in virtual reality(VR) technology, as a new form of cultural transmission is mainly used to reproduce the virtual scene, which can recover, simulate and present the ancient ruins. It makes the protection of cultural relics come true under the constant development of tourism industry. Additionally, with the continuous development of technology, nature interaction of virtual scene roaming is becoming mainstream. The publishment of Kinect gives a great hand for natural interaction of virtual scene roaming. This paper combined with archaeological data researches methods to realize the creation of the Sui and Tang ruins Jiuchenggong virtual scene and its interaction. Dealing with the problems during its running, such as multiple scenes, taking up a lot RAM, not smooth screen, complex interaction devices, etc are the main task of my paper. This paper works as follows:1) The main procedure about how to create a system of virtual scene roaming is described comprehensively, including the creation of three-dimensional model, rendering, displaying and real-time natural interaction. The internal algorithm processes and framework are described when system has been designed. For the problems of scenes making large memory and running slowly, the system uses texture mapping technology and LOD technology to optimize the scenes.2) Kinect camera motion capture technology is researched to deal with the problems about increasing the complexity of setting parameters and setting program Interface resulted from using so many hardware facilities such as the helmet-mounted display, data gloves, stereo glasses, etc for HCI. Kinect motion capture technology realizes the specific body posture control instead of keyboard control through capturing real people motion. The whole program is simple and less set parameters.3) Billboard technology and Kinect video capture function are researched to solve problems of complex programming when adding real-time sub-window in virtual scenes. In this paper, Kinect is used for capturing the reality scenes in real-time. Real-time scenes are introduced into the virtual environment by related programming. Then real-time scenes are displayed in the virtual roaming scene to make the entire roaming more immersive.
