Urban lake watershed is a compound ecosystem, which sets nature, economy and society as a whole. It is reported that with the increasing pace of industrialization and urbanization, lakes have been polluted and eutrophicated seriously since early 1980s. As it has been seen, ecological advantages brought by the lakes around cities have disappeared completely.Take Lake D (administrated by the government of City K Province Y), an endorheic lake of fresh water which locates in Yun-Gui Plateau for example. Since 1993, the Governance of the Province, where Lake D and its main inflow rivers locates, has invested tens of million RMB. Except for the water quality improvement, a large number of management and construction achievements are accumulated. As a general administration, establishing an ecological construction and ecological culture spatial database of Lake D watershed is required. The database may implement the multi-source, massive, with typical characteristics of the spatial distribution data visualization and analysis. The purposes are providing accurate, reliable fundamental data for some research departments or some projects and providing convenient, intuitive information query service for the public in order to strengthen their confidence and consciousness of participating in the governance work. As a result, the ecological civilization construction of the lake will be further promoted. This project is a twice GIS application development. The main achievements are listed as below:1. By using SuperMap software, the raw map data has been processed. We also completed drawing the drainage map of Lake D watershed and making the thematic maps involving the governance of the lake.2. We have also made the thematic maps within the watershed about cultural relic protection units, green communities, ecological demonstration villages, lake wetlands and ecological parks.3. Based on the RIA architecture, the clients have used the FLEX framework for developing the GIS subsystem with the function of displaying and querying spatial data such as rivers, museums, green communities, villages and so forth. In order to critically and deeply demonstrate the achievements of Lake D watershed construction, statistics, texts, photos, video clips have been proved to be quite helpful.4. A good way for displaying and querying non-spatial data is to develop web subsystem. I have chosen Apache as a web server and ORACLE as a database. Furthermore, PHP as a language for creating dynamic web pages has been used as well.According to the software engineering and GIS development related theories, this paper is composed of six parts:Introduction to the project, Requirements Analysis (RA), Preliminary Design (PD), Detailed Design (DD), System Implementation & Testing (IT), and the conclusion.
