In the past three decades, organic field effect transistors(OFETs) have received considerable attention of the academia and industry for the several advantages such as their reduced cost, their potential application in the large area and flexible organic electronic products, as one of the frontier field of organic electronics. The researches of OFETs not only provides a good foundation to understand some basic problems of organic electronics, but also shows their important potential applications in modern society, such as optical detection, signal storage, laser radiation and environmental monitoring.The research significance and development situation of the OFETs were simply described in this paper, while our investigation were focused on the materials, preparation methods and device performance parameters of solution-processed OFETs. Although the performance of OFETs can meet the preliminary requirements of practical application, low cost solution method processing technology is eagerly required. Based on the research status of solution-OFETs, P3HT-OFETs with PMMA and PVA dielectrics are fabricated and device performance was investigated. The research contents are summarized as follows:(1) P3HT-based OFETs with PMMA dielectric are fabricated by solution process. The effect of the spinning speeds of the P3 HT active layer on the performance of the devices was investigated. The experimental results show that the fabricated OFETs exhibit the optimal performance at the spinning speeds of 2000 rpm of the P3 HT. This indicates that spinning speed of the active layer is one of the important technological parameters in the performance improvement of solution-processed OFETs.(2) P3HT-based OFETs with PMMA dielectric are fabricated by solution process. The effect of the spinning speeds of the PMMA dielectrics on the performance of the devices was investigated. The experimental results show that the fabricated OFETs exhibit the optimal performance at the spinning speeds of 2000 rpm of the PMMA. This indicates that spinning speed of the dielectrics is theother important technological parameters in the performance improvement of solution-processed OFETs.(3) P3HT-based OFETs with PVA dielectric and P3HT-based OFETs with both PVA and PMMA dielectrics are fabricated by solution process. The experimental results show that the fabricated OFETs with both PVA and PMMA dielectrics exhibit the optimal performance. This provides important technical parameters for the solution preparation OFETs.
