The Female Soldiers News Discourse Analysis On The "People’s Daily"

Due to the special nature and restrictions of its work, female soldiers have much fewer connections with ordinary citizens. Therefore, the ideas of women in the army in mind is blurred and much closer to the imaginations of one self s. In real life, many stereotypical portrayal of women in the army are created and enhanced by films, literature and news coverage. Since 1949, reports on military and national defense are classified into military news. Focused mainly on military development, the role shaping of soldiers is vacant academically and practically. Back to the group of female military workers, this paper chooses the news discourse angle to unearth the reflections of national power on women soldiers over the decades.The big family, the nation and the small family, family of individual women soldiers become two keywords through analysis. Meanwhile, keywords from a macroscopic view are demonstrated differently as the national development strategy changes. The meaning of the big family gradually changes from its original national perspective to a specific unit in the army. On the other hand, the small family expands its coverage to the military family as a whole. Even the spouses of women In the army become relevant to the topic sometimes. However, it doesn’t change the fact that the proportion of news coverage on the big family is much bigger than that on the small family. The individual family of a women soldier is always secondary. Starting from a microscopic view, this paper focuses on the female individuals in the army. Thus, the veil of invisible power in the army will be truly revealed. It’s also beneficial for the country when female characteristics are addressed properly to promote the social status of women soldiers.
