With the development of computer, network and sensors technology, the Internet of Things have attracted considerable attention. The computer monitoring system as a mature technology has new connotation and application with the development of the Internet of Things. In this paper we design and development a computer monitoring system based on the Internet of Things technology.Firstly, the analysis of computer monitoring system’s basic function and the presents development. Then after studying the three-layer architecture and core technologies of the Internet of Things, based on the structural characteristics of computer monitoring system, we put forward the three-layer architecture of the new computer monitoring system(data gathering, network communicating and application). According to the three-layer architecture, complete the whole design of the computer monitoring system. This system use C/S system structure, in data gathering layer we use independent smart sensors composed of sensor network to collect the information and distribute control commands. Based on RS-485 and CAN control is designed to establish the connection between the sensor network and the server, and to realize the data’s memory. Based on Internet network layer can realize the real-time remote data exchange. The application layer offered friendly interface and kinds of data services.This paper realized the upper computer software control system based on modularize design method. This system integrates acquisition, processing and storage data, the real-time data and history data’s graphical display, report printing. Users can set different parameters on different purpose. Through GSM module send alarm information to the person in charge and software sending control command to solve the problem. It becomes unattended operation system.The new system in this thesis has been successfully used in the desert plants lysimeter observation field in Minqin. The practical test results shows that computer monitoring system described in the thesis work stable and efficient, and the performance of the system is in line with expectations.
